THE DEVELOPMENT OF COUNTING SYSTEMS AND NOTATIONS

INTRODUCTION

This module has been produced as a distance-learning package. It is intended that the student should read through the notes provided and use the reading list and other History of Mathematics links to answer further questions that are specified at various points in the course.

When the questions have been completed and the assessment formulated by the student both should be sent to:

DIANA THOMPSON
SCIT
University of Wolverhampton
Wulfruna Street
Wolverhampton
WV1 1SB

The tutor will then write back within a week to say whether the assessment is suitable. The assessment should then be sent to the above address to arrive no later than the end of the first week of the summer term.

The assessment will constitute the first assessment of the six prescribed in the module guide. The other assessments will be handed out at intervals in the summer term.
