Review

This successful conference was the first of its kind in Europe.  It was attended by a select group of highly dedicated and intelligent (?) computer gamers willing to give up their weekend to promote new ideas in computer gaming.  The conference brought together researchers and  games developers  to exchange ideas on design methods and programming techniques, which will be beneficial to the gaming industry and academia. The conference concentrated mostly on the programming of games, with special emphasis on simulation, AI (fuzzy sets, neural networks, genetic algorithms) and  computer graphics.  An excellent keynote talk was given on "The Double Helix: Simulation and Gaming" by Roger Smith of ModelBenders LLC.  Software providers were able to show their latest packages and students from a number of univesities gave demonstrations. The Best Paper Award went to  Ian Wright and James Marshall for their paper entitled: Egocentric AI Processing for Computer Entertainment: A Real-Time Process Manager for Games.
