Welcome to the third issue of this on-line journal which serves to publish state-of the-art research and review papers dealing with artificial intelligence, simulation and related topics in the field of computer games.

The interest in this field of research has continued to grow rapidly.  The readership has seen a significant increase and shows that the Journal has stimulated world-wide interest from game researchers and developers.

This is issue sees the inclusion of both full technical papers and review papers, based on the nature of the material submitted and the recommendations of the Editors.

Our sponsor, EUROSIS – the European Simulation Society , is now well-established and currently organises more than ten international conferences around Europe, including Game-On 2003 which will take place at the IEE Headquarters, London from 19-21 November.

The proposed Network of Excellence in Digital Games, mentioned in the last issue was established recently and an application was submitted to the EU for funding.  This network now involves 24 partners in 12 different countries and links 250 researchers across Europe. IJIGS will become one of the major outlets for publishing the activities and finding of the Network .

Your Editors are presently in discussion with publishers with a view to making the Journal available in printed and CD-ROM formats.  This is your journal and we hope that you will be encouraged to submit your technical papers, survey papers and reviews for publication.  Please also continue to give us your feedback and help to make this a journal that truly meets your needs.  It would also be appreciated if you would spread the word about IJIGS and help to promote it further.
