War of 1812:  John Gough Private July 18 First Muster Roll Corps Of Canadian Volunteers 18 July 1813 - 31 August 1813 Volunteered Under Major Willcocks, 18 July 1813 Commanded by Lt. Cil. J. Willcocks for October1813-June 1814 $8/month pay.

Between 1869-1928, almost 90,000 'Home Children' children were brought to Canada from Great Britain during the child emigration movement. It was considered that 'pauper children' would have a better chance for a healthy, moral life in rural Canada, away from the urban slums of the larger industrial cities in England, and they were a source of labour.

Canadian Expeditionary Force - Over 600,000 Canadians enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) during the First World War. The CEF database is an index to those personnel files, which are held by the National Archives. It contains the names of 120 Goughs.
